Trends

It is with pleasure that we have observed a growing demand for aromatic grape varieties.
Not only the classic Sauvignon Blanc, that is found in its physiologically ripe and minerally version at the JURIS Winery, but also old regional favorites like Muskat Ottonell and Scheurebe are currently enjoying a renaissance.

Whether this is a market niche or a new trend, only time will tell. In any case, beginning this year we have added a wonderfully light and fragrant Muskat Ottonell to our range of wines. It was harvested from an old vineyard and is distinguished by grace, elegance, and lightness rather than opulence and volume.

A specialty of this region is to make sweet wines from grapes that have been dried on reeds from the grass belt surrounding Lake Neusiedl. We were able to produce a Strohwein once again this year and it was also made from an aromatic variety. Scheurebe grapes were dried for 4.5 months before being pressed to produce this wine. The fermentation has just ceased and first tastings are very promising.

The JURIS Winery plans a longer period of bottle maturation for the flagship blends St. Georg and Ina’mera before market release in the future.
