Generations

The parents of Axel Stiegelmar were the originators of the present continuing philosophy of quality.

Georg Georg Stiegelmar took over the family winery JURIS in 1967. Many describe him as a driving force of wine quality in the Lake Neusiedl area and as the doyen of viticulture in Gols and we couldn’t agree more. His successes were many and crowned by the title “Winemaker of the Year” in 1995 at the international Wine and Spirit Competition in London. Robert Mondavi commented on Georg’s life achievements as “the total command of winemaking.” This title was awarded for the first and, up until now, only time to an Austrian winery.

Theresia, Teresia Stiegelmar also grew up in a winemaking family. She managed the family’s country inn until its closure in 1995. Her unfailing will and tireless support made JURIS what it is today.
